Original Variables

Column Name Description Scale Units
Ensemble Baseflow the component of total streamflow that is derived from subsurface sources with generally longer travel times than quickflow continuous (≥0) mm

Attributes

Name Code Description Scale Units Applicable Parameters
Baseflow baseflow The component of total streamflow that is derived from subsurface sources with generally longer travel times than quickflow. Baseflow sustains streamflow when no immediate precipitation has occurred and is a mixture of water sourced from deep or shallow groundwater and/or soil moisture. continuous (≥0) mm all

Processing Steps

As part of its Integrated Water Availability Assessment, USGS generated estimated baseflow values at the HUC-12 resolution for monthly time steps from October 2009 to September 2020. We first aggregate these values to the HUC-8 resolution using an areally weighted averaging transformation before converting to the other SAWS resolutions.
