Seems like there is no way to use retrievePeripherals from the CBCentralManager.
Or what am I missing?

Hi tcurdt. Sorry to have been so focused elsewhere that I neglected your issue.. The entire area of background execution and state preservation/restoration is next on my list. The Readme says that Centrals are done - sorry about that. I'll change it
