How to run VTR in the windows operating system

I am a beginner of FPGA as an undergraduated student, I want to ask how to use the VTR resources in my windows computer, I have no idea.

Hi,

We do not commonly run VTR on windows, as most of our users are on Linux. As such, we do not have the windows build as part of our CI; so there is no guarantee it will build properly. I have seen PRs recently for fixing some windows issues, but I am not sure of the current status of the feature.

Other than building from source (which I think will be a bit tricky for the reasons above), you have two other options:

• Use Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) to run Linux directly on your Windows computer. This may be the simplest since then you can just follow our QuickStart guide as if your machine is a Linux machine (https://docs.verilogtorouting.org/en/latest/quickstart/ )
• Alternatively you could run VTR as a Docker container (https://github.com/verilog-to-routing/vtr-verilog-to-routing/blob/master/dev/DOCKER_DEPLOY.md ). This is a bit more tricky if you have not worked with Docker before, but I think this would allow you to run on Windows without WSL; however, I have not tried Docker on Windows before.
