Yes. vector test defaults to warning-level logging, while VRL log() defaults to info. Run with -v to see those messages:

vector -v test '/etc/tests/*.yaml' -C /etc/vector/

For Docker, set VECTOR_LOG=info in the container:

docker run --rm -i \
  -e VECTOR_LOG=info \
  -v "${BUILD_FOLDER}/vector:/etc/vector" \
  -v "$PWD/vector/tests:/etc/tests" \
  "timberio/vector:${VECTOR_VERSION}-alpine" \
  test '/etc/tests/*.yaml' -C /etc/vector/

For calls using level: "debug", use -vv or VECTOR_LOG=debug. To log every test event without rate limiting:

log(., level: "info", rate_limit_secs: 0)

See the log() reference. Verified the verbosity settings and repeated log output with local unit tests on Ve…
