Swapping X and B

I have been greatly enjoying to use vanilla to be able to play splatoon 1 with a nintendo switch pro controller, however a very jarring issue is that in splatoon 1 you jump with X instead of B, since that layout made more sense for the wiiU gamepad.
If i recall correctly there are other games like breath of the wild that have also switched X and B between the wiiU and Switch versions of the game.
I saw a branch that switches A/B and X/Y, but it might be worth looking into an option for switching X/B as well,
or ultimately ofcourse having full remapping capabilities.

while this awesome program is still under construction, i was trying to find solutions in the meantime.
I tried adding vanilla as a non-steam game to see if i could use steam to remap the controls, but that did not appear to work.
I am running arch linux and thus run both the server and front end in one, but could it be possible to run the server, and then the frontend separately trough steam to see if maybe the remapping works that way?
I have been unable to find much about running just the server, or even how to get the window to appear the same as in the picture on the github page.
any help or advice would go greatly appreciated
