I don't know if the server would work well over 2.4GHz but outside of that it does seem theoretically possible, though I doubt anyone will try making a port. I also think the difference in resolution might cause issues. |

Yeah, I think it's certainly possible, whether the UX will be good enough to justify the effort though is another question. It's probably not something I will pursue, but if someone wants to try, they're welcome to. |

Would a 3DS app be possible?
I guess, unfortunately, a standalone app would be impossible since the 3DS doesn't support 5GHz Wi-Fi, but is 5GHz Wi-Fi required for the option that involves a server?
I think it could be a great Homebrew app to have, since the 3DS has almost all the hardware needed to replicate a Wii U GamePad (excluding the right joystick and the two triggers on the original model). It has NFC, a camera, accelerometers, gyroscopes, a microphone... the only thing missing is a magnetometer, and it has an infrared receiver instead of an emitter.
The top screen could... Um no, I'm better off with a little mock up of what I have in mind.
Here it is :
(I wasn't really aiming for skeuomorphism in particular I was just lazy)
