Describe the issue

Networking gets disabled by running dnf upgrade on a clean install of Fedora 38, using the provided UTM image.

  1. Install the premade Fedora 38 UTM guest image, and boot it
  2. in a terminal, run sudo dnf -y upgrade
  3. reboot the guest
  4. Observe that there is no network available (NetworkManager doesn't seem to be running)

ifconfig shows only the loopback interface.

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.6.4
  • macOS Version: 17.2
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): M4 Pro
