Under both the Apple virtualization framework and qemu virtualization there are a handful of Apple M4 (and maybe M3?) features that are missing in the guest VM. It would be nice if these features can get added.

I noticed these missing features while running a Linux guest, I assume they would also be missing with a MacOS guest.

The specific missing features:

  • FEAT_I8MM
  • FEAT_WFxT
  • FEAT_RPRES
  • FEAT_BTI
  • FEAT_ECV (Does this one actually matter? Not sure. I guess it adds CNTVCTSS_EL0 which is handy)
