Is there missing instructions for setting up auto-updating for Windows?

Setting up auto-updating for Windows

As per the instructions,

1. Download https://github.com/henrypp/chrlauncher/releases
2. Create a chrlauncher.ini

this application for Windows has the ability to auto-update. But could it be that the instructions are by accidental omissions minimalist?

• step 1. | As chrlauncher-2.6-bin.zip is extracted, and its chrlauncher.exe invoked, this triggers Chromium to acquire and then launch it. However, this is not the result we want to obtain. So is this also happening to another user or is it just me? Would you mind instructing what you want the user to do?
• step 2. | Unknown file creation location. Guessing is not a desirable option, so again, would you mind instructing what you want the user to do? You will notice in chrlauncher-2.6-bin.zip the existence of chrlauncher.ini, which indicates at least one missing instruction.

Do you think this script may contain other outdated instructions?

Finally, since the concept of auto-updating excludes any manual intervention, I suspect that it is not necessary to manually acquire the updateurl.txt file which is made available as an asset, in order to make this script effective. But is my conclusion even correct?

I mean, create it with that content. do you think it is better to write: create or replace?
pay attention to "C:\Users\<my user>\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data", where <my user> is your windows user.

I don't think so. But if you have better ones, or if you can write it better, welcome them.

so:

• step 3. | Wait for chrlauncher to download the zip, chrlauncher unzips it by itself and launches the browser.

theoretically, each subsequent browser start-up must be done via chrlaucher, which at each start-up rechecks updateurl.txt for an update

there are also other ways to install cromite, made by the community, but I do not know them.

Can we now assume that you have ensured that no other instructions are missing, and that no content can be found subject to interpretation? I was still able to interpret your instructions as follows:

Instructions

1. Acquire the chrlauncher-2.6-bin.zip file (model name) and decompress it.
2. Replace the content of its chrlauncher.ini file with the one shown here, or create said file if it is missing.
3. Run chrlauncher.exe; this launches the Chrlauncher application, which triggers the automatic download of the updateurl.txt file in which the Cromite download instructions are present.
4. Wait for Chrlauncher to download the Cromite ZIP file; it decompresses on its own, after which it is launched.

Subsequent start of the browser

Each subsequent start of the browser must be done by launching Chrlaucher, which at each start checks the content of the updateurl.txt file for an update.

Conclusion

I noticed after launching crlauncher, you just have to wait for it to download the update, it overwrites the exe afterwards in C:\chrlauncher-2.6-bin\chrlauncher\64\bin if you extracted the crlauncher zip in C Drive, also the chrome win zip (cromite zip)

One more suggestion for user, Make sure if you create a pinned shortcut in taskbar, under properties of the icon set target to C:\chrlauncher-2.6-bin\chrlauncher\64\bin\chrome.exe, and set location as C:\chrlauncher-2.6-bin\chrlauncher\64\bin\

Basically, this video explains that I had extracted the cromite zip and crlauncher zip file in C Drive and also had adjusted the pinned app icon properties (via right click on pinned icon of cromite in taskbar)

Target : C:\chrlauncher-2.6-bin\chrlauncher\64\bin\chrome.exe (for cromite taskbar pinned app icon)

Start in : set to C:\chrlauncher-2.6-bin\chrlauncher\64\bin, then simply launch cr launcher whenever new update comes
