Area-51 AAT2250 desktop chassis lighting support / lightingAreas proposal

Hi,

following up separately because the original AAT2250 device support discussion is now answered.

I have a local working prototype for Area-51 AAT2250 desktop case lighting.

With the mapped LEDs, I can currently control separate desktop lighting areas:

• Alien head / logo
• interior lighting
• outer ring / “corona” lighting

The prototype also includes grouped effects such as static color, chase and fill with timing/speed control.

However, the current implementation is still a local prototype and not ready for upstream. Some parts are AAT2250-specific and should probably be moved into a more generic structure, for example configurable lightingAreas in database.json, instead of reusing laptop-style keyboardZones.

Before I spend more time preparing this properly: would you be interested in adding desktop chassis lighting support to AWCC?

If yes, I can work on cleaning it up and either open a draft PR for architecture review or first share a proposal for the database structure.

Hey i have completed support for every lighting device possible in https://github.com/tr1xem/alienfx-linux I would merge it soon in AWCC so it can have it too

Thanks for the info, that sounds great.

I wasn’t aware that the lighting support is already implemented in alienfx-linux. I’ll wait for the AWCC integration and won’t prepare a separate lighting PR.
