I think that in Cubist original code there is a memory leak.
I am running Cubist on a dataset of 10,000 variables with 3 layer (0,1,2) 500 times and everytime it crashes between 40 and 50 iterations without returning an error statement. I checked and Cubist is not using more memory than my cluster can provide therefore it looks like a cumulative effect and that is why I think it is a memory leak in the original background code of Cubist in R.
I am not skilled enough to investigate this myself and you as the developers will be quicker to test this would that be possible to quickly test this and potentially resubmit this?
Best wishes,
