Inspecting a picture in details often reveals clearly whether it is a copyvio/selfie or acceptable image.
A good size for thumbnails would be to fit them inside a 400*400 pixels square, with information and actions ("Mark as patrolled", "Nominate for deletion", "Report copyvio") available under each image.
