What steps can reproduce the bug?

hapi opencode

After entering the command and waiting for 120 seconds, an error message will pop up automatically: No OpenCode session found within 120000ms for cwd xxxxx

However, the cli can still continue to run. On the hapi web side, you can only see the session creation and title modification, but no other content.

What is the expected behavior?

It should run normally and you can see the conversation information in the web

Thanks for the report. In the current code, hapi opencode keeps running even when OpenCode session discovery fails. The warning comes from the local storage scanner: it looks for a session whose recorded directory matches the launched cwd within a 120000ms startup window, and if that match never appears it emits No OpenCode session found within 120000ms....

Relevant code:

• cli/src/opencode/utils/opencodeStorageScanner.ts:166 - matches OpenCode sessions by cwd and startup window, and emits the warning at :217.
• cli/src/opencode/opencodeLocalLauncher.ts:605 - forwards that scanner failure into the session stream while the launcher continues.

• Can you share the DEBUG=1 log lines around the [opencode-storage] messages?

Problem Description

OpenCode has migrated session data from file-based JSON storage to a SQLite database (~/.local/share/opencode/opencode.db), but HAPI’s opencodeStorageScanner is still trying to scan the old directory structure, which no longer exists. As a result, session discovery fails.

When starting HAPI, users see the following error:

No OpenCode session found within 120000ms for cwd /path/to/project

Root Cause

1. Session Storage Has Been Migrated

• OpenCode now stores session metadata in a SQLite database.
• The session table contains fields such as id, directory, time_created, time_updated, and others.
• The old file directory ~/.local/share/opencode/storage/session/ no longer exists.

2. The Scanner Still Uses Outdated Logic

• Line 426 of cli/src/opencode/utils/opencodeStorageScanner.ts still scans the old directory.
• The listSessionInfoFiles() function looks for JSON files under storage/session/.
• Since the directory does not exist, session matching always fails.

3. Timeout Mechanism

• Default timeout: 2 minutes, defined on line 31 as DEFAULT_SESSION_START_WINDOW_MS = 2 * 60 * 1000
• Polling interval: 2 seconds, defined on line 32 as DEFAULT_SCAN_INTERVAL_MS = 2000
• If no session is found within 120 seconds, it is permanently marked as failed.

Expected Behavior

1. The scanner should query the SQLite database to discover sessions.
2. It should match the working directory using the directory and time_created fields.
3. It should read message and part data from database tables.
4. It should support backward compatibility with both SQLite and the old file-based storage, if legacy support is still needed.

Actual Behavior

The scanner never finds a session, causing it to permanently fail after the 2-minute timeout.

Required Fix

1. Add SQLite Query Capability

• Read session metadata from opencode.db.
• Implement a listSessionInfoFromDatabase() function.

2. Update Session Discovery Logic

• Query the database first.
• Preserve support for the legacy file format if possible.

3. Update Message/Part Scanning Logic

• Read message data from the database.
• Implement a scanMessagesAndPartsFromDatabase() function.

4. Add Diagnostic Logging

• Log whether the database was found.
• Log query results.
• Help debug connection issues.
