Code of Conduct

The short version

Be respectful. Assume good intent. Focus on the work.

Our commitment

We want Tempest to be a project where anyone — regardless of experience level, background, or identity — can contribute, ask questions, and be heard. Everyone participating in this project agrees to uphold this code of conduct.

Expected behaviour

  • Use welcoming and inclusive language
  • Respect differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Accept constructive feedback gracefully, and give it kindly
  • Focus on what is best for the project and its users
  • Show patience with contributors of all experience levels
  • Assume good intent, and clarify before escalating

Unacceptable behaviour

  • Harassment, insults, or personal attacks of any kind
  • Discriminatory jokes or language
  • Trolling, deliberate misinformation, or sustained disruption of discussions
  • Publishing others' private information (doxxing) without explicit consent
  • Sexualised language, imagery, or unwelcome sexual attention
  • Any conduct that a reasonable person would find inappropriate in a professional setting

Scope

This code of conduct applies in all project spaces — GitHub issues, pull requests, discussions, commit messages, review comments — and in any other space where an individual is representing the project or its community (social media, events, external channels).

Enforcement

Violations can be reported privately by emailing gsvprharsha@tempestai.dev. Please include:

  • What happened, with links or screenshots if relevant
  • Who was involved
  • Whether the incident is ongoing

Reports are reviewed confidentially. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and will not disclose the reporter's identity without their consent.

Consequences are decided by the maintainers based on severity and pattern, and may include:

  1. Warning — a private note that the behaviour was unacceptable, with an explanation of why
  2. Temporary ban — no interaction with the project or maintainers for a set period
  3. Permanent ban — permanent removal from all project spaces

Maintainers who fail to enforce this code in good faith may face temporary or permanent consequences as determined by the project's leadership.

Attribution

This code of conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1.
