Xen type Design?

Hello,

I have recently come across your Hvisor and am am going to try and experiment with it but had a couple of questions.

Is the design similar to Xen which uses Dom0 for the drivers for the DomU VM's or is it just for controlling the VMs as I see that you have a zone0?

Hi there,

The zone0 (root zone) Linux in hvisor is responsible for two roles:

1. Hypervisor control plane – It runs the hvisor kernel module and the user-space CLI (https://github.com/syswonder/hvisor-tool) for zone(vm) management through hypercalls.
2. Virtio backend provider – It hosts the virtio backends that serve the virtio frontend drivers inside non-root zones (zoneX), including virtio-console, virtio-blk, virtio-net, and virtio-gpu.

All zones can use device passthrough. Each zone may be assigned exclusive physical peripherals and use its own native drivers to access them directly.
