Started as a Navy cryptologist, spent decades securing systems for NASA, TSA, and Cisco. Somewhere along the way I became the Technical Director for a high school show choir — and that's where my open source work took off.
I build tools that bridge professional AV gear with affordable hardware. dmx-followspot turns an Xbox controller into a moving-head followspot system. studiolive-midi-controller gives you MIDI control of PreSonus StudioLive III mixers from midi control surfaces, Logic Pro and other DAWs. qlcplus-tools makes managing QLC+ lighting configs less painful. ansible-raspi-dmx automates Raspberry Pi deployment for DMX and Fadecandy LED rigs.
These projects come from real problems on real stages. I also mentor 16–20 students every year through hands-on production crew work — construction, electronics, audio and lighting programming. The tools I build and maintain grow directly from that work.
Sponsorship keeps these projects alive — hardware for testing, time for documentation, and new features born from actual use. If you've ever run a show on a shoestring or automated infrastructure that couldn't afford to break, you know why this matters.
