Stephanie Hunt: "I’ve got some ideas for curating an add-art project that would include .mov files. What are the chances? It would be great to curate a “show” that includes both .mov files and .jpg files in my uploaded material."

Really cool idea, but I’m a little concerned about the load of having multiple MOV files on the same page (or FLV’s). Animated GIFs, though, would be super tight.

I concur – MOV files are heavy, even if we predownload them. Smaller gif files would be aight. Would you be using sound or just moving images?

I’m just wanting to do moving images (no sound). And as far as the file size issue is concerned, I totally agree that this would be a problem with mov files in general. The specific files that I’m interested in curating are only a few hundred K each, though… Really small. Could there be a file size limitation on the upload page?

Stephanie has made a mov file that turns on your camera and makes this crazy mirror on your screen. The file itself is tiny and the result is awesome. In Add-Art it would be the most dynamic thing we had by far. Would be worth pursuing if possible? Maybe a branch for users with a camera or something?
