As a buyer of a CMS (even headless), I expect to have straightforward ways to present images and videos, without using React. "Straightforward" is subjective but I'm hoping we can be pragmatic in this thread.
Even though React is popular, it's not a lingua franca.
I'm still on the fence about Sanity.io due to its "posture" on docs and examples. I'm going to be blunt since this is a commercial project:
The docs are good but they are inadequate without the examples, starters, and so on.
The examples are good quality, don't get me wrong! But --
The examples seem like they are made for inbound marketing, then shelved until there are problems. Instead, for essential use-cases, I'd hope that examples were proactively maintained/developed.
The examples make so many assumptions that, if you follow them, it's a lot less "headless." I'm not trying to split hairs on this, I'm trying to express something subtle... It feels less like I'm building with a headless CMS, and more like I have to assemble a heavy CMS, then disassemble it, before I can get started.
