Request rerender from other thread

How can I request a rerender from outside the main App? I see that I could add a custom event through the loop in the App, but that is a local variable inside the run function in the App.

My problem is that I start some work in a thread and I will have to rerender the UI after that finished.

There isn't a great way to do this currently. I am hesitant to expose the Loop because I don't want widgets to be so tightly coupled to the runtime. The way I handle this in comlink is that I have an 8ms poll timer that wakes up the event loop and checks for IRC events.

I've been thinking of adding some sort of function into the EventContext which would post an event or wake up the loop with a callback. I just haven't finalized my thoughts around it yet.
