Dockhand has recently added changelogs for updates; it would be nice if they were clickable from HA as well
I'm just throwing this out there as an idea; I don't think they're essential, but they could actually be a handy little feature for some users. But above all, I don't know if there's an API endpoint to retrieve them.

I just checked and was surprised to findan actual api at /api/changelog that gives all the historical changelog entries. However other than loading the entire stack into an HA sensor, I'm not sure how we could take advantage of it. HA doesn't give a simple clickable method to load API data and then reformat as a popup or something similar. I've done some tricks here, but it's included template sensors and browser_mod. That was mostly for weather alerts, which I've since found better ways to handle with custom cards. For github releases I also use the Github integration to monitor repos and send me alerts when things I care about have updates, those include the links to release notes.

Could look at trying to have a high level entity that was just a link to the github release/changelog, but since the API doesn't actually return the version of Dockhand being run that I can find, it would just be a generic link to their release page.

Anyway, I'm open to doing something helpful, I just can't think of anything faster than just launching Dockhand from the existing visit links and seeing the popup after manually updating that container.

Got it! I'll take a poke after I work through the multi-instance bug I'm currently dealing with and some API updates after that. I think we might be able to wing something with the Dockhand and Hawser containers updates which aren't actionable, but I'm not sure on the others. It'll depend if the API returns any sort of link to release notes. I like the idea, just not sure if that kind of thing is tracked in a usable way, be nice to have real release notes though. If you've found an API that takes a container image:tag string and can produce a release notes link, let me know, that would definitely give us something to work with.

@SiriosDev I realized I forgot to ask, but where are you seeing these in the Dockhand UI? I want to take a peak at what they are showing, and possibly dig into their code to see if I can find the API calls their UI is using. It's also worth knowing are you seeing this for containers using the "latest" tag, or only those pinned to a specific version tag when a new version tag is available?

I don't see a way to view changelogs from there in my Dockhand instance, it just shows that an update is available. Maybe I misunderstood, but I re-read your initial submission and it sounded like you were seeing container changelogs inside Dockhand. If we're trying to scrape container level changelog details (even for just a URL) I need to find a place to get that information from. It can be difficult as container paths on Docker Hub don't necessarily match the projects on GitHub where the release notes live. Trying to think of a good way to do this, as I'd love to see real release notes in the update entities, it's just where to get that info from reliably.

Nono, I was suggesting, in general, to take advantage of the feature. Whether it displays the changelog or passes the link to the entity, as in the example in the first screenshot highlighted in green, is irrelevant to me.
