What is the bug or the crash?

QGIS hangs when attempting to load WMTS or XYZ tiles. The issue frequently occurs within the map layout tool, where layers fail to render, and printing causes QGIS to freeze, requiring a forced quit.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Open QGIS (version [3.24.14]) on Ubuntu Jammy.
Add a WMTS or XYZ tile layer to the project.
Attempt to display the tile layer in the map layout tool.
Observe that the layer does not render in the map layout.
Try to print or export the layout to a file.
QGIS freezes indefinitely and must be forcibly quit.

@jasonowsley, thanks for reporting. Please actually try if the issue does occur also using a new QGIS user profile. If it does, please provide a sample project with which the issue occurs.
With which previous version of QGIS did the problem not occur?
