@m-kuhn so for me I think it makes better sense that when the user uses the generic docs.qgis.org URL, they go to the hub. From there they can easily navigate to any doc they want. If they put in a specific url for a doc version e.g. /3.4.0/ then it makes sense they go directly to the sphinx docs since there is obviously a clear intent to get to the docs themselves rather than the hub. Can you clarify if / why you think the behaviour is better going straight to the sphinx page directly for docs.qgis.org?
@timlinux
In general I expect if I go to the base url of a page to go to the main entry point of that specific resource, I'll typo "doc.qgis.org" into my browser but never "doc.qgis.org/[someversion]" unless I have very specific knowledge about a service
If I want to go to the hub. I'll go to https://hub.qgis.org
