TLS guide curl examples omit the default listener port #3158

Open

Description

@maheshrijal

The TLS guide shows curl requests without a port. Portless HTTPS uses port 443, while Prometheus listens on 9090 by default. For direct TLS using the default listener, the requests should use port 9090; setups with a listener or proxy on 443 can keep using port 443. This applies to requests made directly to the default listener.

curl -k https://example.com/api/v1/label/job/values
curl -k https://example.com:9090/api/v1/label/job/values

Make the same port change to the guide's --cacert example. In a direct TLS test, the original request could not connect and the corrected request returned API status success. Both examples should use the configured listener port (9090 by default).
