One thought is this:

• After user input, save story.state and story.recent to browser localStorage
• On page load, check localStorage and if present, restore state, and display the first passage from story.recent.

This is easy to implement but not quite ideal, because the full history is lost - you only restore what happened after the last input. The issue is that passages can have side effects beyond updating state, for example queuing additional passages via story.showDelayed. If we story.show every passage from the full history, then all these side effects will run at once.

I'm not sure if there is a better approach to this, but I'm not very knowledgable in this area. We could save the innerHTML and tags of every passage in history, and then restore these. Could this have unexpected side effects?
