[Suggestion] Nether fauna #54

Description

@theishiopian

The flora in this mod is unparalleled among every mod I've played. However, the fauna leaves something to be desired. The following is a loose list of some ideas I've had:

  • Flying pigs: essentially just large pink bats. Opportunistic scavengers that will steal mob drops. like to hang from the underside of crimson trees.

  • Fungal Flumph: inspired by the dungeons and dragons creature. Floating mushroom-like creature with hanging tendrils, can be found in mushroom forests. Scared of the player, will flee on sight. Flumph jelly is highly saturating.

  • Spectres: miniature ghasts that follow their larger counterparts around. Attacking one angers nearby ghasts. They have a higher droprate for tears than their larger cousins do.

  • Hell Hogs: part dog, part pig, all nasty. These small pack hunters spawn anywhere hoglins or piglins spawn. Will attack both, as well as the player. As soon as one sees a target, the rest are alerted to its location. Will not attack zombie pigmen.

  • Wart beetles: found anywhere nether wart blocks are. These arthropods live in wart blocks similar to silverfish, and come in red and blue variants for the two variants of warts.

  • Salamander flies: these dragonfly-like hunters prey on fireflies and wart beetles. They get their name from their immunity to fire, and they use fires and soul fires to quickly fly upwards via the updrafts. Common in nether swamps.

  • Soul Eaters: a variant of skeleton found in soul sand. They spawn in small patches, and can be identified by the occasional skeletal arms that rise out of the sand. Most common in the soulsand valleys and soul plains, but can spawn rarely anywhere soulsand does. They attempt to pull players and other things into their soulsand block. If the the block is broken they pop out and attack via melee.

  • Black Moths: These curious critters are similar to moths, but are eusocial, forming nests on and around glowstone clusters. They will swarm anyone holding a light source, causing suffocation with a large enough swarm. Their nests can be broken to get random food and light source items.

  • Mold spores: not really mobs, these entities spawn around mushroom forests, and can be killed to get mold saplings. Upon touching blocks, they try to plant themselves.

  • Bone mites: Tiny white creatures that live in and on bones. Will attack the player and anything else with a skeleton inside, including skeletons, which they deal huge damage to. They can be captured in some sort of container and then thrown like a grenade.

  • Wither Wisps: glowing spectres that use their light to attract prey, which they then posses, inflicting the wither effect. They heal undead creatures.

  • Phoenix: the only bird in the nether, origin unknown. Very similar to parrots, they come in many different colors. Pacifist creatures, they play dead in response to harm, giving rise to the legend of their ability to resurrect. They spawn in nether jungles and eat much like a woodpecker does, drilling into stalagnates.

  • Hogelopes: small rabbit like pig creatures, thick skin makes them immune to cacti. Their leather can be used to make armor that provides immunity to nether cacti and egg plants.

I don't expect any of these to be implemented, though you can if you want. These are more for providing inspiration. The flora so far is amazing, keep it up!
