It cannot display my image expect I close the Overlay list window.

I installed the FSL by the fslinstaller.py on my Ubuntu20 server. And then I view my image by follow shell command in remote.
fsleyes data_001.nii
The fsleyes windows will show in my local PC by the X11-forwarding.

The trouble is that the default soft layout cannot display my image.

By chance, I closed the bottom-left Overlayt list of the default appearance, and the imagecan be displayed.

I second this behavior. I have a similar setup, but I built a Singularity container following: https://open.win.ox.ac.uk/pages/fsl/fsleyes/fsleyes/userdoc/install.html#install-into-a-docker-singularity-image (but also needed to add the exports to the %post section for the environmental variables be available during singularity build). I used X11 forwarding to connect to a (RedHat) Linux from my local Windows 11 PC. When running the container, I set LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1

• Opening an image first doesn't display the image, or not doing anything seemingly, the empty GUI operates continuously.
• The Overlay list window seems to interfere with most functions, and windows. When it is on, I am unable to make any change on the overlay, and even if I set new windows to display in Settings -> Ortho View 1, none of the changes apply, even though the boxes are checked in the menu.
• The moment I turn off Overlay list, every change applies, and the image is rendered, the windows, like Location, starts functioning.
• Also, the Overlay list can not be turned on again, only if I reload the default layout, but then rendering and overlay changes don't happen until the Overlay list is turned off again. Even though there is no rendering now, but the image may be "there", as clicking the empty space seems to change the coordinates in the Location.
• These issues apply to other layouts as well.
• For Layouts with multiple Views the Overlay list block only the View it is in. For example in the FEAT layout the overlay list on the Time series view does not interfere with rendering the Ortho view.

Summarize:
The Overlay list activated on the layout seems to block any changes and rendering on the current View.

I think I've fixed this - can you install the latest version of fsleyes-widgets (0.15.1) into your environment? Rebuilding your singularity image should suffice.

You can update the fsleyes-widgets to new version 0.15.1.
