This project looks a good match for our needs, only we use Cumulus NVUE which is not based on Yang but on openapi. Is there away so we can use this project

Are you interested in the k8s part? because this has native openapi support.
or is the requirement for the overlay merge capability and the declarative interaction with the device?

What do you mean with the k8s part? I just saw your presentation and got interested. The declarative interaction you mean configuring the devices and keeping the state? For that you need Yang models.

The project does several parts:

1. it provides an interface to k8s which has certain semantics: it is mainly a declarative system + uses the control loop to get something done. So if the use case is to build an openapi config and transact to the device, you just need the controller to do this
2. the project was targeting YANG so far, but the idea is you have a YANG based schema and we need to apply the config in a declarative way. So the 2nd part of the project is to handle this declarative aspect, which is you need to look at the current state, compared with new and do the diff. Now we did this in several ways to provide flexibility.
   a. you do this with full config snippets: full device config
   b. we also allow you to manage this with various config snippets and we handle conflict by overlaying the configs based on priority. As such you can divide your config in multiple snippets and let the system do the merge, etc etc.
3. we use today southbound: gNMI, Netconf to transact to the device, but that is the 3rd aspect is which protocol to use to the device in your case
