Welcome to PyLadies GitHub discussions! This is a space meant to foster conversations related to the PyLadies community, the Python programming language, and the PyLadies organization + operations.
All PyLadies spaces (online & physical) must follow the PyLadies Code of Conduct. If you haven’t already, please read that first.
Consider this post a living document. Major changes will be announced in a new discussion thread.
Guidelines
#github-discussion-boards
channel in Slack!Every member of PyLadies is a person: This community is intended first & foremost for any self-identifying PyLadies member. While allies & friends of PyLadies are welcome to participate in the PyLadies GitHub discussions, the discussions is intended to be a community build for and by self-identifying PyLadies.
Additionally, the admins, moderators, organizers, and everyone else in PyLadies are donating their spare time; nobody’s being paid. Our responses, suggestions, and answers may not always be correct, and you may not always get a response. Treat us like somebody friendly you don’t know who is standing next to you offering thoughts, help, or suggestions.
PyLadies is asynchronous and international: We have members all around the world, and many of us are working professionals, full time students, and just generally busy people. As you are participating in discussions or seeking assistance, it’s entirely possible that you won’t get a response for an hour or day or more (or any at all).
For a potentially more active, synchronous discussion, check out PyLadies on Slack.
Be a model citizen: Be the change you want to see in the world! Remember our community runs on volunteers & collaboration. If a discussion is getting heated, try to defuse it. If a hard question is unanswered, dig in and try to help out! It’s a great way to learn!
Thank you! This community is international & distributed. It’s nice to find that even with our diversity of backgrounds, experience levels & nationalities, we have similar goals & can support one another. It’s always a delight to be late-night coding & suddenly realize that halfway around the world, a cheerful collaborator is logging in to begin their day!
This post originally inspired by the PyLadies Slack etiquette and the Python discussion board FAQs.
