Monthly KtonDAO Quizzes

Overview

The proposal introduces monthly quizzes for the KtonDAO community as an engagement and education initiative. Participation would require a small entry fee, with rewards distributed to top performers.

Participation Mechanism

The initial idea was to use NFTs as entry tickets, but using badges may be simpler and more accessible.

Open question:
How can we reliably verify that a participant has purchased a ticket in order to receive a badge?

Entry ticket price: 5 KTON

• 2 KTON → DAO Treasury
• 3 KTON → Quiz rewards pool

Once the ticket is purchased and verified, the participant receives a badge that grants access to the quiz.

Quiz Format & Schedule

• Quizzes would be held once per month

Timing options:

• At the end of each month on the quiz platform currently used by Laki
• Or hosted independently, if needed

Duration & Governance

• The quiz program will run for 6 months
• After 6 months, KtonDAO will vote on whether to continue, modify, or discontinue the initiative

Budget Request

• Total requested from KtonDAO(fixed , thank you Laki) treasury: $600
  Note on ticket revenue:
  All KTON collected from ticket sales will be easy to verify with power of blockchain and sent directly to the KtonDAO multisig treasury wallet on Darwinia chain: 0x9497c0474c0Bba76942AD553DA91F4e52df45E8f .

Any income generated from ticket sales during the 6-month period may be:

• Deducted from the total $600 treasury request and returned to the treasury, or
• Carried forward and used to fund future quizzes if the program is prolonged after the 6-month review.

The exact handling of ticket revenue will be determined by KtonDAO governance at the end of the trial period.

Rewards Distribution

• 3 winners per quiz
  • 1st place: $50
  • 2nd place: $30
  • 3rd place: $20

Quiz Structure

Each quiz consists of 3 questions:

• Easy
• Medium
• Hard

A key requirement is that answers should not be visible to other participants during or after submission.

Suggestions & Ideas

1. Ticket Verification Options

To verify ticket purchases and issue badges, consider:

On-chain verification:
Users send 5 KTON to a specific DAO wallet; a script or manual check assigns a badge/role.

Discord role gating:
After payment, users receive a Discord role that grants access to a private quiz channel.

Simple form + transaction hash:
Users submit their wallet address and transaction hash via a form; verification can be semi-manual at first.

2. Hidden Answers in Discord

Discord alone has limitations, but there are workable solutions:

Google Forms / Typeform:
Collect answers privately; results exported afterward.

Discord bots:

• Bots that accept answers via DMs
• Bots that lock answers after submission

External quiz platforms (recommended for fairness):

• Private answer submission
• Timed quizzes
• Automatic scoring

Transparency is important, so correct answers will be published after winners are announced.

3. Additional Improvements

• Publish a monthly leaderboard to increase engagement
• Offer non-monetary rewards (special badge, Discord role, or NFT)
• Use quizzes to educate about:
  • KtonDAO governance
  • Ecosystem projects
  • Web3 fundamentals
