Rewarding governance participation?

Hello everyone!

Jesse and I talked to potentialy reward those who are active in the initial stages of KtonDAO governance. Maybe after 10 proposals pass(currently 5 have passed) https://gov.ktondao.xyz/proposals

We both agreed to exclude ourselves and give around 100.000 RING from treasury as reward to voters. I DEFINITELY want ECHO to be included for all the help he provided for technical help(I know it will not be much, but it is a start).

It would be interesting if we do KTON buyback with that Ring and reward with KTON(this small ammount should not cause price drop for Ring). Some ammount like 25.000 RING could be swapped on Hydration to BTC. This BTC could also be airdropped.

If it wouldn't cause too much of price impact I would also propose we do some RING swaps to KTON and BTC to start bringing both to KtonDAO treasury.

All funds will go through multisig and will be distributed manually (I can take care of that process and share first here the data with screenshots)

My questions to you all are:

1. Do you agree with airdrop?
2. Is after 10 proposals ok with you?
3. Do you agree rewards being in KTON or BTC(feel free to share your options)?
4. I have also a well known community member who delegated to me? Can I still reward him or do I tell him to undelegate from me?
5. Do you agree with KTON buyback and bringing BTC to KtonDAO treasury?
6. Please feel free to share your opinion and pros and cons.

Maybe we should better to utilizing them like must do delegation to yourself or some else before being able to collect rewards?

Very valid point. In a way it is.
But sadly out of 61.234 KTON staked in v2 and 5.771 KTON staked in v1 together approx. 67.000 KTON staked only 31.438 KTON are Delegates in governance. This is 47%. That number is actually not bad.
However when we take into account those come from only 14 members(some also have delegated votes to them) and participation on proposals is bettwen 11.700 KTON to 14.670 KTON.
And only:

• 3 members voted on 3 proposals
• 4 members on 1 proposal
• 6 members on 1 proposal

This are the main reasons why active participation is important. In my experience out of governance participation come the most active members. And I know it takes time to dig into proposal and comment, engage in debate. On the other hand it takes a minute to stake and forget about it. I am not against staking at all, I know not all have time to participate in governance. But I think more can. I might still be proven wrong.

Let me know if this makes sense?

I agree with this. This must be addressed well and well thought out. I think best is to promote delegate to yourself and participate(once e-mail reminders on DeGov roll out this will be easier).

I agree with Saso here that staking isn't enough to engage people. So if we reduce staking rewards a little bit and use those saved rewards to incentivize governance participation it would benefit KtonDAO. This would not be new funds but be a portion of the 20M RING rewarded to stakers yearly.

Why exclude yourselves? You’re both clearly active, and honestly, I think it’s only fair that you’re included too. I just wish more people would actually take part instead of only delegating their voting power. Delegation is fine—I do it myself when life gets too busy—but people shouldn’t be so hands off all the time.

I’m definitely in favor of rewarding governance participation. It might actually get more people involved.

Also think it’d be great to incentivize engagement here on GitHub. There’s a lot more meaningful discussion and ideas in these threads than you can get from a simple yes or no vote. It’d be a good way to data mine, gauge sentiment and see who’s really contributing.

That is also great idea to have or keep stats on that. I am looking into AI agents that follow DAO Governance. I know one from solana does. I need to check more. Do you know any? @hackfisher @hujw77 @2xJDubs @sonoferin2000

i can give you a hand, im not technical,cant do python coding or anything, but im sure we can figure a way to make this work.

i have put 100,000 ring reward for simplification purposes,, its much easier to visualise and figure. we don't know how much will go towards rewarding github activity. I have inputed all discussions into chatgpt to to analyze each persons contribution to the discussions on github in order to get an unbiased view. As said I will abstain from receiving rewards. Imho I want the rewards to go to people who took their time to participate, (as I know ideas and opinions don't take just 5 minutes of your time but way more). People like you. As without your participation and hopefully some others that join us this wouldn't make much sense. Only together we are strong and make sense.

yes,that sounds good, that will give people more opportunity to take part and be included.hopefully more people will take part by then,and we can re-run the numbers.
