How does account recovery work if a user loses their phone? #1
|
I love this Idea, but since Kivuli uses Face ID and passkeys instead of a traditional 12-word seed phrase, how does the account recovery process work if a user loses or replaces their device? Is the passkey synced automatically to cloud backups (like iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager), or is there another backup mechanism in place to ensure funds aren't lost? |

Kivuli handles account recovery through cloud-synced passkeys and MPC key architecture rather than seed phrases: Passkey Syncing: Since passkeys are saved to your primary Apple ID (iCloud Keychain) or Google Account (Google Password Manager), logging into your cloud account on a new device automatically restores your passkey. You can log back in immediately using Face ID or biometric authentication. Key Distribution (MPC): The private key is split securely into encrypted shares using Multi-Party Computation. Your cloud passkey unlocks your share without Kivuli ever taking custody of your funds or storing your keys. As long as you retain access to your primary Apple or Google account, you won't lose access to your wallet or balance if your phone is lost or replaced. |
