For the DEX related code source, it is a clean fork version of PancakeSwap V3. Smart Contract audits to improve platform security will be conducted by third-party specialized organizations.
Project Information
1. Project Description and Objectives
1.1 Project Description
Our project aims to bring more Bitcoin to the Hashkey ecosystem by igniting BTC-fi and PayFi through the connection between Bitcoin Lightning Network (Layer2) and Hashkey chain.
There have been numerous Bitcoin L2 and Alt-layer projects launched so far, but they have rather created Bitcoin fragmentation issues and failed to attract much attention from Bitcoin Maxis.
We aim to establish the Hashkey chain as a liquidity hub for Bitcoin by building one massive Lightning Network node and developing a Bitcoin-centric DEX and Bitcoin multi-chain bridge including the Lightning Network.
1.2 Objectives
2. Success Potential
2.1 Market Demand
Bitcoin is the most important underlying asset in all public chain ecosystems along with various Stablecoins. To solve the problems of high fees and low TPS of Bitcoin mainnet, various Bitcoin L2s and Alt-layers are being released.
However, there has been no attempt to connect Lightning Network, a scaling solution that can be called Bitcoin's true L2, with EVM compatible chains. We want to bring more Bitcoin to Hashkey chain as a liquidity hub that connects LN and Hashkey Chain.
2.2 Technical Feasibility
Leveraging the established Hashkey exchange and Hashkey chain ecosystem provides a solid technical foundation to ensure scalability, security, and stability. Our team has the expertise required to set up and operate Lightning Network nodes, develop mobile wallets, develop blockchain, program smart contracts, and design decentralized applications (DApps), allowing us to build a solid platform. Bitcoin and Lightning Network are inherently tied to the CEX and on-chain, making it technically ideal to develop our product on the Hashkey chain.
2.3 Team Capability
Our core team consists of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds in Lightning Network node setup, mobile wallets, blockchain technology (including smart contracts), software development, exchanges, and AC/VC collaboration.
The backgrounds of these core members ensure that we can effectively address both the technical and community-focused aspects of the project. We have experience working with various chains and foundations since 2017, and our advisory board includes industry experts who provide strategic guidance and support, expanding the ecosystem through partnerships.
3. Mission Alignment
We have the same mission as stated in the HSK whitepaper.
3.1 Enhanced Scalability and Performance
The Lightning Network is a true scaling solution for Bitcoin that has been in development for a long time. We want to combine the security of the Hashkey Chain with the scalability of the Lightning Network, and maximize Bitcoin's performance by connecting to other LN channels.
3.2 Fostering Innovation and Participation
We provide all users and token holders with the opportunity to become part of the Lightning Network node. Users can purchase HusKEY nodes or become token holders to earn Bitcoin fee revenue generated by the Lightning Network.
3.3 Sustainable Ecosystem Growth
Huskey Fi is not just a Lightning Network node operator nor a general purpose DEX. It is a Bitcoin-centric DeFi protocol that supports various functions such as DEX, Lending, and Bitcoin bridge. By distributing the profits collected from each product to veHSK stakers, HusKEY node holders, and token holders, it encourages continuous community participation and builds a sustainable ecosystem.
3.4 Seamless Integration with Existing Infrastructure
We have experience working with various foundations and project teams such as Kaia Foundation, LINE NEXT, Endurance chain, Token Pocket, Steemit Foundation, EOS Network Foundation, etc., and have already launched and operated the Zoel Network mobile wallet. Based on this background, we will expand the platform through collaboration with various teams.
4. Innovation
4.1. 1st LN Integrated Liquidity Layer
While most existing Bitcoin L2s are nothing more than EVM fork chains, Huskey Fi runs its own LN node and connects LN to the Hashkey Chain. The Lightning Network has about 12k nodes and 45k channels, and has a revenue model where fees are actually generated based on user usage.
4.2 L2 Interchain Integration
Lightning Network is the Bitcoin scaling solution with the largest community and developers, and has a high potential for long-term growth. In the future, Taproot Assets and ERC20 tokens will create synergy through compatibility with each other.
4.3 Flywheel of Bitcoin and HSK
Token holders can stake HSK (or veHSK) on Huskey Fi to earn H (tentative name), which can then be used to earn Bitcoin. Conversely, it is also possible to stake Bitcoin or H to earn HSK. All revenue generated from DEX, Lending, Bridge, and LN Node fees is included in the yield pool.
4.4 Community-driven Bitcoin Nodes
Many people want to create and operate Bitcoin LN nodes and channels, but the practical operation is very difficult due to technical and funding issues. We build a Bitcoin node where all community members who own a Huskey node can continuously accumulate BTC.
5. Is it Open Source?
Yes, the code is currently closed source. Open sourcing is important. Projects open source once development is in a stable state. Code will be open source when it’s secure to do so.
6. Free or fee-based for end users?
Swaps, Bridges, Lending, etc. that utilize our platform basically have fees. However, these fees are shared transparently with liquidity providers, depositors, and stakers.
7. Interoperability with Hashkey ecosystem
7.1 Alignment with HSK
Our platform uses Bitcoin and HSK as underlying assets. Liquidity providers of Bitcoin can obtain HSK, and HSK stakers can obtain BTC. Through alignment with HSK, we aim to continuously inject value into the Hashkey ecosystem.
7.2 Cross-platform collaboration
Our platform facilitates interoperability with Hashkey-based applications and services in line with Hashkey's ecosystem and OP Stack standards. Furthermore, we will connect EVM Compatible chains and Lightning Network to create value through cross-chain collaboration.
7.3 Synergy with Hashkey Exchange
Currently, exchanges such as Binance, OKX, Bitfinex, and Kraken operate their own Lightning Network nodes and support Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals on the Lightning Network. We expect that Hashkey Exchange will also operate an LN node in the future. At that time, connecting our channels will have a great synergy effect between CEX and DeFi.
Market Analysis
1. Competitors and Differentiation
1.1 Competitors
Currently, L2 or staking protocols, Alt-layer projects centered around Bitcoin exist widely across multiple public chains. Below are some of the projects that are receiving the most attention in the market (some of which are also part of Hashkey Capital’s investment portfolio):
1.2 Differentiation
The projects listed above aim to build their own L1 or L2 chains (except Zeus Network) by bringing native Bitcoin to their chain and using it as gas fees, and their native tokens usually have the structure of a governance token.
We provide a utility token as a liquidity hub layer that operates on top of the Hashkey chain and Lightning Network. Token holders can share in the platform's fees and also participate in the platform's governance voting (all platform fees are in HSK, not our token). Building a chain can be very risky in terms of security, as the chain itself can become isolated if done wrong.
2. Current User Base and Estimation Method
2.1 Current User Base
Huskey Fi is still in the pre-release development phase and doesn't have a user base yet. We have experience running applications on the Steem and Kaia blockchains, and currently run the most dominant LST and DEX on Fusionist's Endurance mainnet.
Considering the characteristics of our products, our user base using Analogous estimation is as follows:
2.2 Estimation Method : Analogous estimation
The active users of competing projects similar to ours are showing a large deviation. Based on a positive estimate, we can bring Lightning Network users to the Hashkey chain ecosystem, in which case the user base can be at least 1.1M.
On the other hand, based on a pessimistic estimate, it can be in the range of 5K to 100K. (Of course, BVM and Zeus Network are still in the early stages of launch, and can have a larger user base depending on market conditions and continuous product delivery.)
Our primary goal is to attract 100K active users, and our ultimate goal is to attract 1M users by the end of 2025.

Budget and Plan
1. Grant Size and Justification
We are seeking a total of $300,000 in grants to successfully develop and launch the initial Huskey Fi. The funds will be allocated to a number of key areas to ensure the initial DEX pool seeding, comprehensive development, distribution, and initial growth of the project.
2. Project Execution Plan (Roadmap)
We are fully prepared to launch a DEX that supports basic functionality and are currently undergoing ongoing testing on the testnet. Our project roadmap outlines the key milestones and steps from inception to full deployment.
The roadmap ensures structured and phased progress over a period of 18 months or more, taking into account what is achievable in the short term.
3. Token Distribution (Percentages and Initiatives)
4. Token Distribution Timeline
For more detailed information, please check the link below.
5. Post-Incentives Sustainability
5.1 Revenue Model
5.2 Building a Sustainable Tokenomics Architecture
In the early stages of the platform, before the Lightning Network nodes are fully set up, node holders and Token Stakers will receive our tokens. In order to manage the appropriate circulation quantity, they will be paid in the form of vesting tokens in the early stages.
In the platform expansion stage, when Lightning Network nodes start generating BTC fees, we will adjust the inflation rate and deflation rate to be similar by allowing users who burn tokens to claim Bitcoin.
5.3 Security-first Development
The top priority for a DeFi protocol to thrive and succeed in the long term is “security-first development.” Many DeFi protocols have been destroyed by hackers targeting vulnerabilities. We have the following development strategies to achieve our long-term goals:6. Additional Accountability Info (Smart Contract Addresses, Wallet Addresses, etc)
Hashkey Relationship
1. Problem Solved for Hashkey
1.1 Enhancing User Engagement Hashkey Chain will be launching great products from Hashkey Capitadl’s portfolio. However, users are always looking for new products, and we believe our products will reflect their needs well. We are particularly strong in GTM strategies in the Korean market, and will enhance user engagement on Hashkey Chain through collaboration with KOLs.
1.2 Facilitating HSK Staking HSK is in its early stages of launch, and many users are simply focusing on the Launchpool of Hashkey Exchange. By creating use cases in DeFi rather than CEX, we will diversify the utility of the HSK token and encourage more HSK to be locked on-chain.
1.3 Actively Attracting Bitcoin Liquidity Our platform has the ability to embrace Bitcoiners who are reluctant to move their assets to other chains through integration with Lightning Network. We will actively attract Bitcoin liquidity and create PayFi use cases to contribute to improving the on-chain TVL of Hashkey Chain.
1.4 Contribute to increasing Onchain TVL By locking various tokens including Bitcoin, Ethereum, HSK, and Stablecoins on the onchain, we continuously contribute to increasing Onchain TVL of the Hashkey chain.
2. Value Proposition
2.1 For users Many users want to accumulate Bitcoin. And the Lightning Network, which has grown by over 1,000% over the past few years, is a true scaling solution where fees are paid in real BTC. We will integrate the technology and security of the Hashkey chain with the convenience of the Lightning Network to create a platform where users can accumulate BTC as well as our tokens.
2.2 For builders All of our code will be open sourced once it has stabilized to some extent. There are many great projects in the Hashkey Group portfolio, and we will create synergy effects through collaboration with them. Continuous connections with other chains will attract more builders to the Hashkey chain.
2.3. For the chain ecosystem Until now, the EVM compatible chains and the Lightning Network ecosystem have been completely separate from each other. Huskey Fi will play a role in connecting the Bitcoin community and the HSK community through its connection to the Lightning Network.
3. Growth Potential for Hashkey
Global leading exchanges such as Binance, OKX, and Bitfinex are already operating large-scale Lightning Network nodes and supporting Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals via LN.
Hashkey chain is a chain that is fully compatible with Hashkey Exchange, so if exchanges start supporting Lightning Network deposits and withdrawals, they can bring in a lot of Bitcoin liquidity from other exchanges that do not support it.
Huskey Fi can grow into a protocol that strongly supports this in the DeFi area rather than CeFi, and can create new value by connecting the thriving Bitcoin and Lightning Network ecosystems to the Hashkey chain ecosystem. As more countries adopt Bitcoin as a fiat currency and the Lightning Network-based payment volume increases, we expect all this liquidity to be connected to the Hashkey chain.
4. Commitment to Building on Hashkey
4.1 Long-term Builder We have been a builder on so-called classic chains such as Ethereum, EOS, Tron, Steem, Kaia (formerly Klaytn), and Cosmos since 2017. This is a testament to the continued commitment of our core team to the long-term. We view our relationship with Hashkey as a long-term partnership. Most of our team are early miners of HSK and are also large token holders of HSK.
4.2 Ecosystem Contribution Our team is a Korean-based team and one of the foreign teams that participated in Hashkey Hackerhouse Taichu from farthest away. Korea is one of the markets that the Hashkey ecosystem is most focused on, and we will contribute to the ecosystem in various areas such as content sourcing, marketing through collaboration with KOLs, as well as development.
4.3 Hashkey chain dedicated platform development Based on our development experience on other chains, we are committed to developing a dedicated platform that makes the most of the Hashkey blockchain infrastructure. We focus on how we can contribute to increasing the on-chain TVL of Hashkey chain in the long term and how we can contribute to the value enhancement of HSK.
5. Deployment Status
Details of addresses related to Smart Contracts are listed above, so here we will introduce the general ones that we are currently operating on the Hashkey chain.
