Great question @mccabete! Does it make sense to have a few more EIS Slack channels or collaborate here in GitHub? |

I'm happy to collaborate with the wider EIS groups on github. But I also realize that most of the "day to day" collaborations are happening on project-specific channels (slack/ teams etc). I figured it would make sense to try and consolidate where the collabs are happening now.

Thanks for asking this question @mccabete! There are also some channels on the NASA-IMPACT Slack where conversations are happening. Like you said, I think that GitHub Discussions are great for engaging with the broader community on "slower" discussions that require time in between responses. But for the "faster" back-and-forth to quickly discuss and solve an issue, tools like Slack are better. Other alternatives to Slack are Discord and Gitter. Here's a pretty concise comparison of all three: neuecc/UniRx#327 (comment). @klo-h2o, free Slack does offer quite a bit of good features (including file sharing up to 1GB) but it does delete older content (90 days old, I think). The other tools keep content for longer but don't allow sharing of such large files and are missing other features like threaded discussions, which Slack does have. |

As the EIS Tech hour wraps up (RIP), I thought it would be useful to consolidate some of the slack channels people are collaborating on, as we start taking these conversations out of a single meeting.
Here is where I have been working:
EIS Fire FEDS algorithm scientific development slack.
MAAP User slack. We have a specific channel for EIS Fire FEDS algorithm software development. This is also a great channel for general MAAP troubleshooting help.
