Linking these discussions to specific Discoveries and Datasets in VEDA?

Do we want to link EIS discussions to specific Discoveries and datasets, or will that sort itself out by tagging, etc.?

Sorry @klo-h2o. Just got access to this board. I'm Greg and new to VEDA. But will be working with on the Analytics Platform/Data Services side of VEDA

Can you give me an example of what type of discussion you'd be linking these the datasets so I can understand a little bit more?

I would hold off on linking anything to VEDA at the moment since we're currently feeling out if GitHub Discussions is gonna be useful for how we organize things. But that could change in the future and based on your feedback of this discussion thread! (so meta)

@ranchodeluxe - glad to have you part of the discussion and helping us work on the Earth Information System (EIS) and VEDA. I think we need to keep in mind that EIS and VEDA are two separate projects. EIS is using VEDA features to publish some of its data products and science stories; one example are Discoveries that we've created to communicate the work being done by EIS, such as the Discovery about Coastal Risks. EIS has decided to use this GitHub organization as a means of having open public discussion and getting community feedback. Just like VEDA, we might revisit whether GitHub is the best forum for this but, for now, we're going to use it for EIS public discussion and code repositories. I think what Kim is asking is whether we should open a new GitHub Discussion thread that is specific to each Discovery that EIS publishes.

@klo-h2o - I think this is a good idea and should be part of our process. Whenever a new Discovery is published, we should automatically start a new Discussion thread here. And we should insert a link into the Discovery that points directly to the specific Discussion thread for that Discovery.
