Windows desktop client reports windows 10, when it is 11

Steps to reproduce

Windows 11 Home, 25H2, Build 26200.8457
Windows Desktop Client: 3.0.3-2073

Check the about -> versions dialog. It disagrees with the system:

Expected behavior

• Both should say win11

That is not a bug - it is just Microsoft's versioning. Windows 11 still reports itself internally as version 10.0 in many APIs and logs.

Try running the following in PowerShell and you will probably see the same:

Get-ComputerInfo | Select WindowsProductName, WindowsVersion, OsBuildNumber

I see. In that case, I'd argue, that we should look for other ways to detect the version, rather rhan an unreliable api call.
