A useful feature (for me, at least) would be adding a transparency option to mirrors to allow some fraction of the light to pass through them unreflected while the remaining light is reflected as normal. This would result in two separate beams with different intensities. For the purposes of sensors each beam would count as 1/2 (or another fraction depending on the transparency setting) of a light.
