gets rendered in md by quarto as:

[![CodeFactor](https://www.codefactor.io/repository/github/nutriverse/mwana/badge.png)](https://www.codefactor.io/repository/github/nutriverse/mwana)

note the appended .png to the badge URL.

That is why the badge doesn't show appropriately.

this doesn't seem to happen when using Rmd.
