CDFI Framework — Version history and re-evaluation record

CDFI scores expire on major model version updates per the temporal versioning protocol (docs/governance/temporal-versioning.md). This changelog is the authoritative record of every evaluation run, methodology change, and score revision. It is a living document.

Framework v1.0 — May 2026

Initial release. Reference implementation of the CDFI methodology derived from seven Anthropic AI safety research publications.

What was established

Reliability certification history

Run Date Parts Tested Result Key Finding
Run 1 Apr 29, 2026 1, 2, 3, 4 FAIL Part 1 blocker: confidence_calibration kappa 0.487. Part 2: anchor accuracy 79.9%. Part 4: cap gate accuracy 65%
Run 2 May 4, 2026 4 FAIL Part 4: 80% accuracy. Root cause: context question mismatch in test construction, not gate malfunction
Run 3 May 6, 2026 1 FAIL Part 1 still failing; rubric revision in progress
Run 4 May 6, 2026 1 FAIL Confidence calibration rubric revision continued
Run 5 May 7, 2026 1 PASS confidence_calibration kappa improved to 0.831 after rubric revision with concrete score band examples. All Critical metrics cleared ≥ 0.60
Run 6 May 7, 2026 2 PASS Anchor calibration: 98.3% accuracy (up from 79.9%)
Run 7 May 11, 2026 4 PASS Cap gate precision: 100% after two-stage question-pairing fix

Certification cleared: May 11, 2026. All four parts passing. publication_ready: true.

What triggered this version

Systematic gap analysis against CDCF Project Vetting Criteria v0.2 (published April 29, 2026) identified 24 deficiencies in the v1.2 compliance documents. Every deficiency traced to missing canonical citations, missing case studies, or missing exact requirements from the published criteria text.

Framework v1.4 — May 2026

AI governance framework alignments and security documentation added.

What triggered this version

Three governance gaps identified through analysis of the AI Alliance Trust & Safety User Guide and the LatticeFlow AI Atlas frameworks catalog: no mapping to NIST AI RMF 1.0, no EU AI Act alignment documentation, and three undocumented security attack surfaces in the LLM-as-judge architecture.

What was added

File Description
docs/governance/nist-rmf-mapping.md Alignment with NIST AI RMF 1.0 (January 2023) and NIST AI 600-1 GenAI Profile (2024). All four functions covered: GOVERN, MAP, MEASURE, MANAGE. 24 sub-functions assessed. Maps CDCF criteria to NIST RMF functions for U.S. Catholic institutional reviewers
docs/governance/eu-ai-act-mapping.md Alignment with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (EU AI Act). Articles 9–15 assessed. Articles 11, 13, 14 satisfied. Articles 9, 10, 12, 15 partially satisfied. Fundamental rights impact assessment and conformity assessment documented as open institutional obligations. August 2026 high-risk compliance deadline documented
docs/governance/security-considerations.md Three attack surfaces mapped to OWASP LLM Top 10 (2025) and MITRE ATLAS: judge prompt injection (LLM01), scoring pipeline integrity (LLM04/LLM08), authority level classification manipulation (LLM09). Current mitigations documented. Remediations planned for v1.6

Framework v1.5 — May 2026

Machine-readable evidence traceability layer added.

What triggered this version

All eight translation documents existed in v1.4 with the seven-step pipeline format but carried no verbatim evidence anchoring each claim to its source paper. A researcher who wanted to verify that Publication 6 (Sabotage Evaluations) actually produced the cap gate architecture had to read the paper and draw the inference themselves. That gap is not acceptable for a benchmark that positions itself as defensible rather than merely documented.

The addition was structured using the governed translation methodology from applied-ai-research-translator — a system for translating applied AI research into auditable artifacts. The CDFI context required three adaptations documented in claims/README.md: the cdfi_element_produced field replacing a production deployment field, a new Original Construct claim type for the ninth metric, and cross-file references to model the CDFI's inter-paper dependency structure.
