Request for a Feature in twofactor_gateway Software: API Integration with SMSRest #577

Description

@florianw3ndel

Dear [Developer/Support Team],

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request a new feature for the twofactor_gateway software, specifically an API integration with RestSMS (https://github.com/Xcreen/RestSMS). This integration would greatly enhance the usability of TOTP SMS for our application.

As avid users of twofactor_gateway, we have found its current capabilities to be efficient and reliable for implementing two-factor authentication (2FA) in our systems. However, we believe that integrating SMSRest into twofactor_gateway would significantly simplify the process of utilizing TOTP SMS, making it more accessible and user-friendly.

The SMSRest library offers a comprehensive set of functionalities for sending and managing SMS messages through various providers, and its seamless integration with twofactor_gateway would allow for a streamlined implementation of TOTP SMS verification. By leveraging the capabilities of SMSRest, users would be able to generate and send TOTP codes via SMS without the need for extensive custom code or manual configuration.

We understand that incorporating new features into software requires careful consideration and development resources. Nevertheless, we strongly believe that this integration would greatly benefit twofactor_gateway users by enhancing the security and convenience of TOTP SMS authentication.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and any updates regarding the feasibility of integrating twofactor_gateway with SMSRest.

Best regards
