If it's valuable to your business you should just be paying for it. Hire a nextcloud developer, post a bounty on the issue, you name it. |

Hi @SMillerDev, thanks for your answer. Before talking about money that I don't have I would like to get some feedback on this proposition. It's not because it would be useful to us that it is needed by everyone, so please, people looking at this issue don't hesitate to write down some comments. I would really like to know what do you think about this proposal. |

This is a good idea, but it will need a dedicated developer. This app has been receiving little development over the last year or two, so it will need an outside dev to implement. Until then, your best bet is to share url's between users via copy and paste. Cheers. |

I came here to suggest something very similar: sharing folders of feeds. RSS isn't very intuitive for many people. But it's very practical. I would like to assemble some interesting feeds for a group of people. So it would be cool if it was possible to share folders. |

So, if there is not so much active developing on that app right now, maybe it's possible to hack, so you include the news app via external site app for everyone on that plattform? Someone has an idea how to provide the credentials for this to the news app account? |

If this ever gets resolves I prefer a solution that (also) does the follows:

Sharing is now possible with the bookmarks app. Perhaps there is some way
to incorporate that code. @marcelklehr might have suggestions, or not. Haha.

Sharing backend code across apps is tough and the core time realized early on that sharing functionality is one of those cases where sharing code is seldom useful. 🤷♂️ |

What about sharing individual articles via the Bookmarks app? This could make the most sense as you send Nextcloud News |

btw, didn't you just add the ability to share urls/groups as RSS feeds within Bookmarks? Could that hold some potential integration? |
Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.

That's definitely a way to share articles: Create a folder in the bookmarks app, create a public link, pass the public link as RSS feed to other people and have them add it to their feed readers. Everytime you add a link to that folder, the people that have subsccribed your feed will get that link in their feed reader. |

Anything new on this, @chinchila? As @kaffeeringe and I pointed out, folder and group shares are critical. Best |

Hi people, sorry, to be honest with you I totally forgot about this issue, I will try to work on this this week, If this is so critical you can always raise the bounty. |

Is this request still needed? Or does this comment provide a way to do it? RequestTo make sure I understand this request, the want is to be able to share:
Alternative proposalI am thinking an alternative would be to be able to prepopulate users News app feeds list with "recommended" feeds. This would mean users would have feeds straight away. It recommended feeds would need to be configured by.....an admin? Before I start doing any design, can I get a yes / no this is still requested? |

Yeah, it's still needed for me.
It should (also?) be folder based.
To users on the same Server is fine for me.
I'm not that sure, that I understood that yet. In the end I want one user to hold all the ressources and sharing these specific folders with specific user groups. So I guess the news application needs to be accessable by all users who should access these folders.
The alternate proposal wouldn't work for me. I've got 50-70 activists on my plattform with little time and little technical understanding etc. They should just get the all ressources without a lot of clickwork. |

Hello, As part of a University project, I am working with a team of five people on implementing a share feature for this app. We are almost done implementing code that allows sharing an article with other nextcloud users or via social networks. After looking over this discussion, we are considering working on this issue as well, however, we do have a question for regular users of the app. Share feed/folder feature - the user who wants to share the feed/folder specifies whom he wants to share it with. After sharing it with the target user, what exactly should happen in the target users app? Will the feed/folder just pop up in their menu? I don't know if this is a good idea, since it allows users to easily spam other users with items and ruin their layout. For feeds we could potentially think of adding it to the explore page, while stating that it has been shared to us by another user. For folders I have no suggestions. By posting here we're hoping to hear from some more experienced users to hear what they would like, in order to make this feature as good as possible. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |

Nice project! Two options I've found:
- Share RSS feeds of URL's via the Bookmarks app.
- Simply use a different service for RSS if you need to share things.
Great options include MiniFlux, Tiny Tiny RSS and FreshRSS.

This feature has been developed as part of the university project that
I've mentioned, however, it wasn't integrated into the official app since
it doesn't align with the vision the maintainers have for News. You can
find the full discussion here
<#1255>.
For those who really need this feature I suggest that you download the
latest version (master) of the code from this repo
<https://github.com/Team-Forward/news> and install it the same way you
installed News. However, I recommend you continue using the official app,
since it is actively maintained, unlike our repo. The code is also
available for all developers who wish to implement the feature into their
code.
Unfortunately I can't think of a third option for people wanting this
feature, but I just wanted to mention our work since it's directly related
to this discussion and it might be useful to someone.

Hello, just to let you know I opened a draft pull request that implements a simple, naive way to expose starred items through an RSS feed. This way you could share the feed URL to friends, and they will get articles you star in their own feeds. Of course, it implements 10% of what is asked here, but I believe it can cover some simple use cases (and implementation may be pretty simple as well). I would love your feedback, the pull request is here: #2200 |

Hi, this app is very cool indeed but it would be more useful if we would be able to share news feeds between Nextcloud users.
For instance, having a small button "Share" on items (both feeds and folders) in the left panel to be able to select a group or an user to share the content with them.
It's a shame this feature don't exist actually, we can't use Nextcloud on our corporate env and need to use another old and unpractical app.
Thanks in advance,
