Expanded compact mode in 25.1

there seems to have been an "expanded compact mode" in 25.0 as shown here:

where the articles are expanded inline as was done in 24.

however in 25.1 there is only the option for horizontal and vertical split. I updated from 24 to 25.1, so I cannot verify this.
Was there indeed such a mode in 25.0? And if so how to bring that back in 25.1?

The modes doesn't have changed from 25.0 to 25.1, only how they are selected in the settings, because the old settings did not reflect the current display modes in 25.x and with the change the user can combine compact/non-compact with the split setting.

The "expanded compact mode" refers to the "horizontal split" and "compact view" in 25.1.
