Browsers tested: Firefox, Chrome.
Nexcloud Version: 28.0.1

All browser extensions already disabled

That version of news is not compatible with nextcloud 28. Either the server failed to disable the app or you forced an installation in the past.

You can install the alpha release if you want, it's not feature complete and still has bugs.

Switch to the beta channel in nextcloud settings and wait for the update of news to show up.

Or use occ

./occ app:update --allow-unstable news

Workaround for this problem: #2610

In short you can append the contents of Nextcloud 27.x core/css/apps.css and core/css/mobile.css to news/css/custom.css and it will work as it should.

This way you can run News 24.x under Nextcloud 28.x, see the 'bug' report (not a bug but not a feature request either so...) for my reasons for doing so.
