Friction type for every 1D element is no longer needed. We want to have a global friction type for 2D (already there) and a global friction type for 1D.
For 2D these are the options:

@daanvaningen Is this still relevant? I don't really understand why we would want this, but if we do, now is the moment. I do see a lot of potential backwards compatibility issues though
