First of all please accept my gratitude (on behalf of AOSC-Dev) for your work, by applying your changes to the current 2.12.6 release I was able to gain visible performance improvement in LibreOffice, specifically:
When scrolling through the font menu, where font previews are displayed - with a full suite of Noto fonts installed, it was not possible to scroll through the menu without second-long lock-ups. With your changes, it is completely smooth now.
Resizing LibreOffice windows is now significantly faster, with less lag (especially when using non-Latin display language, in my case, it is zh_CN).
Switching slides in LibreOffice Impress is now significantly more responsive.
And the list should grow as we test more applications against these changes. However, now with Fontconfig 2.13's release imminent, I would really appreciate it if you could inform us whether you are planning on upstreaming your changes? Your changes to Fontconfig should benefit a large amount of Linux desktop users, especially those using non-Latin display languages.
Thanks again for your work and my best regards,
Mingcong Bai
