Ability to disable AGC #916
Comments
Hi, the gain control is operated automatically by the browser engine. It shouldn't be too hard to surface a toggle in user preferences, but it's not something we have planned. I've created a ticket (https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-62106) to track this enhancement. |
I hear you---but I'm exclusively using the Mattermost Desktop App for meetings---not a browser---- When I fire up a meeting in the Mattermost Desktop app---it immediately bumps the level of my default mic down to 40%. Maybe I need to talk to that group--who works on the Mattermost Desktop app? |
For anything specifically concerning the Mattermost Desktop app, you can check https://github.com/mattermost/desktop/issues. For Jitsi, I am not sure, as I don't think it's an officially maintained plugin. |
So sorry----have not had my coffee----yes, we're talking about Mattermost desktop here---not Jitsi....duh. The problem is with Mattermost not Jitsi. I have seen references to audio controls present in the MM System Console (forum posts) within the plugins-calls section. There are none now---would love to set AGC to NO at that level. |
Sorry if I missed this somewhere else. I've searched and searched---AGC is toxic for me and it seems to be a default somewhere. After the start of a call, the people in the meeting tell me that my microphone gain level has become very low. I look and sure enough it is down at 40% or lower. Turn it up to 100% (desktop speakerphone) and everyone says I my mic volume is the same as every else then. Next meeting, start up and AGC kicks in and turns it down again. Cannot find any setting in MM System Console or config.json. It's not happening on Jitsi, Zoom, Skype, etc......no other audio apps have this problem---only Mattermost calls app. Which we love. I would like to just turn AGC off at the server. Or better yet, could be set at the client side.
