The SUNDIALS team will be holding a virtual Birds of a Feather event on February 12, from 3:00-4:30 pm U.S. Eastern time (UTC-5). All users of SUNDIALS are invited to attend this free virtual event and can register here: https://cass.community/events/2026-02-sundials.  The event is hosted by the Consortium for the Advancement of Scientific Software (CASS) as part of the 2026 CASS Community BOF Days (see https://cass.community/news/2026-02-10-cass-bof-days.html for more info).

The purpose of this BoF session is to help connect SUNDIALS software developers with users and developers from applications. The session will start with an overview of the SUNDIALS suite emphasizing new features. The session will continue with brief presentations from SUNDIALS application users. After the presentations, there will be time for discussion with attendees and the SUNDIALS team.

The goals of this session will be:

  • Share successes and failures of SUNDIALS uses among applications
  • Provide an overview of SUNDIALS for people interested in using the software
  • Identify features needed for further SUNDIALS development.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Andy Nonaka from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, “Using SUNDIALS to Efficiently Drive Time-Integration in AMReX-Based PDE Solvers.”
  • Manaure Francisquez from Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, “Towards near-real-time discontinuous Galerkin gyrokinetic simulations of fusion plasmas: collisions via super time stepping.”
  • Francesca Bonaiti from the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, Michigan State University, “Dynamics of atomic nuclei with SUNDIALS."
  • Brett Buckner from Mathworks, "Integrating SUNDIALS into MATLAB"
