v1.4.0 Release-Cycle: API Refinement and Documentation Phase

The scoping phase and the GEP Iteration and Review phase for #3756 have concluded. We're now in the API Refinement and Documentation phase.

The following features are targeting transition to Standard in the release:

• GEP: TLS from Gateway to Backend for ingress (backend TLS termination) #1897
• GEP: SupportedFeatures #3164
• GEP: Configurable Retries in HTTPRoute #1731 bumped for follow up release instead
• GEP: Add Name to HTTPRouteRule and HTTPRouteMatch #995

The following features are targeting transition to Experimental in the release:

• Mesh Resource Definition #3949
• GEP: Default Gateways #3793
• GEP: Gateway/HTTPRoute level authentication #1494 (special iteration)
• GEP: Client Certificate Verification for Gateway Listeners #91 (special iteration)

Note: The "special iterations" above indicate items that are either only partially moving forward, were already far along in status, or have some other special circumstance that brought them in scope.

During this phase both Standard and Experimental transitioning proposals are expected to be code complete (including conformance tests and docs) before the phase ends in order to graduate in the v1.4.0 release cycle.

The following tracks the upcoming timeline and phases from this point until final release:
