Code of Conduct — SeedTools Suite

SeedTools Suite is an open‑source project built as a public good for individuals, NGOs, and high‑risk communities.
To maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive environment, all contributors, maintainers, and community members are expected to follow this Code of Conduct.

This document is based on the principles of the Contributor Covenant.

1. Our Pledge

We pledge to make participation in the SeedTools community a harassment‑free experience for everyone, regardless of:

  • age
  • disability
  • ethnicity
  • gender identity or expression
  • level of experience
  • nationality
  • personal appearance
  • race
  • religion
  • sexual identity or orientation

We commit to fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome.

2. Our Standards

Examples of behavior that contribute to a positive environment:

  • Demonstrating empathy and kindness
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Taking responsibility for mistakes
  • Focusing on what is best for the community

Examples of unacceptable behavior:

  • Harassment, insults, or derogatory comments
  • Public or private intimidation
  • Publishing others’ private information
  • Disruptive or aggressive behavior
  • Any conduct that violates privacy or safety

3. Responsibilities of Maintainers

Project maintainers are responsible for:

  • clarifying standards of acceptable behavior
  • reviewing and moderating contributions
  • taking appropriate action in response to unacceptable behavior
  • removing or rejecting contributions that violate this Code

Maintainers have the right and responsibility to protect the project and its community.

4. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • the project repository
  • GitHub issues and pull requests
  • community spaces (forums, chats, discussions)
  • private communication related to the project

5. Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported to:

All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

Maintainers are obligated to respect the privacy and security of reporters.

6. Enforcement Guidelines

1. Correction

Consequence: A private, written warning.

2. Warning

Consequence: A formal warning with consequences for continued behavior.

3. Temporary Ban

Consequence: Temporary removal from community spaces.

4. Permanent Ban

Consequence: Permanent removal from the project community.

7. Attribution
