Have you tried updating the ASIO driver for your HW? |

I haven’t updated the ASIO driver for my hardware yet. That said, Jamulus doesn’t even get far enough to show an error message — the system completely freezes as soon as I launch the application, before any window appears or any driver message could be shown. |

Just a unfounded guess: Could this be related to Qtmultimedia? Can you change system audio output to some other sound device before starting Jamulus? Maybe you tried that already? |

I have an old Roland interface and it is fussy about which USB port it uses on the PC. It's only fussy in that it needs to use the port that the interface was originally plugged into when the driver was installed. If I ever wanted to change the port I'd have to uninstall the driver completely, swap the port, and then reinstall the Roland device driver. So the suggestion is to uninstall the device driver and reinstall. There'll be a reboot involved, but I think it retains the settings from the registry. And while talking about settings, check that everything is set to 48KHz. Perhaps that FA-06 doesn't do 48KHz sampling. I have seen other old Boss gear that is only 44Khz so you may be a bit stuck. |

Launching Jamulus immediately freezes the entire PC. Here's what happens:
•
No keyboard response (even ctrl+alt+del does not seam to work)
•
Requires a hard reboot
•
After reboot, sometimes audio drivers are disabled, and I need a second reboot to restore sound
•
This happens before Jamulus even opens a window — I can't access the UI or settings
•
My whole audio stack dies, and nothing responds
What I’ve Tried
•
Happens regardless of system default input/output device
•
I manually set my Roland FA-06 as both input and output in mmsys.cpl
•
I disabled GoXLR devices in Sound Settings
•
Still, Jamulus freezes the system on launch
System:
•
Jamulus version: Latest one from the website (as of June 2025)
•
Windows version: Windows 10 22H2
•
Audio setup:
•
GoXLR (TC-Helicon) — usually plugged in, but not selected
•
Roland FA-06 — selected in Sound settings for both input/output
It would help a lot to have:
•
A safe launch mode or flag to skip audio init, like --noaudio
•
Delayed or optional audio device initialization after the UI is loaded
•
More graceful handling of device conflicts instead of a system hang
Happy to provide logs, test builds, or any other info that might help. Let me know!
