The new plotextractor preserves the original .eps file used to generate the .png converted figure. However, in many cases, the original format was .pdf. It would be great to also preserve this one.

Actually in this case there are png's already in the tarball and they may now overshadow any original file. Perhaps we should change the API output to provide a list of original filepaths instead of only one.
